Intel's Celeron Climbs to 2.4GHz
More Va-Va-Voom for Value PCs

Entry-level PCs moved up a level today as Intel Corp. introduced 2.3GHz and 2.4GHz versions of its Celeron desktop processor.

Stepping up from the previously fastest 2.2GHz Celeron, the new CPUs are built on the same 0.13-micron-process technology, with the same 400MHz system bus and 128K of Level 2 cache (compared to 533MHz and 512K respectively for Intel's flagship Pentium 4 chips). They feature 478-pin FC-PGA2 packaging.

The newest Celerons are priced at $117 (2.3GHz) and $127 (2.4GHz) in 1,000-unit quantities.
